What is the process for installing tar and chip?
Before installation one of our highly qualified team members will provide you with a bespoke quote and consultation based on your requirements and existing surface.
For a tar and chip surface a gravel base layer is installed first. Throughout your consultation we can advise you if your existing surface is suitable for direct installation or needs work. Over the gravel a layer of hot asphalt is poured followed by a coating of loose aggregate which is firmly pressed into the bitumen to create the finished surface.
This top layer of stones is where you have the choice to create a bespoke look to your driveway by choosing the aggregate colour and size for your finished driveway. We have over 40 different aggregates that you can choose from including pea shingle.
