7 Steps to Block Paving Perfection
We like to keep our customers informed, every step of the way.
Free Site Survey – This is our planning stage: we carry out all measurements and risk assessments. We’ll work with you to finalise the look you’re after, and factor in important details such as drainage options.
Excavation – We do our own excavations here at Driveline Surfacing Ltd to make sure it’s to our exact specifications, including safety checks for electrical lines or gas and water pipes. At this stage, after groundworks have been completed, we place a porous membrane down to keep our sub-base from mixing with the ground.
Sub-base – Based on what finish and drainage you are after, we will lay the appropriate sub-base either the Mot type 1 or recycled crush concrete sub-base. To comply with laying guidelines, this will be a minimum of 4 inches depth.
Kerbs & Edging – We have a wide range of block edging and kerbs to finish your driveway, though it isn’t always essential, it can be used as a retainer. All edging is laid on a solid concrete base to ensure stability.
Drainage & Manholes – We can replace any existing manholes with recess manholes to ensure you have vital access to your drains, but they don’t affect the overall look of your surface. We only use stainless steel linear drains for the drainage for our surfaces as they are anti rust and crack resistant.
Block Laying – After our final checks, we lay the blocks as per your chosen design. We carry out all cuts after laying the main blocks.
Final Finishing – To keep your driveway from shifting or sinking, we compact all the blocks and join it with kiln dried red sand.
