Our 7 Steps For Perfect Block Paving
We like to keep our customers informed, every step of the way.
1 – Free Site Survey – During this initial stage, we can take all measurements of the area as well as a risk assessment. We will work with you to create the look you’re after and mark out some drainage options.
2 – Excavation – To keep within our specifications, we carry out our own excavations rather than contracting them out. Here, we do checks for electrical lines, gas and water pipes. After these groundworks are finished we place a porous membrane to prevent the sub-base from mixing with the earth underneath.
3 – Sub-base – Depending on the finish and drainage options, we will then lay either the Mot type-1 or recycled crushed concrete sub-base. To keep within guidelines this base has to be at least 4 inches deep.
4 – Edging & Kerbs – We supply a variety of block edging and kerbs to add the finishing touches to your driveway. They aren’t always needed, but they can act as decorative retainers. This edging is laid on solid concrete to prevent movement.
5 – Manholes & Drainage – We are happy to replace any existing manholes with recess manholes to ensure you still have access to the drains if needed. These won’t affect the overall appearance of your driveway.
6 – Block Laying – After the final inspections, we will lay the blocks in your chosen design, carrying out all the cuts after laying the main section.
7 – Final Touches – To stop your new driveway from shifting or sinking will we compact the bricks with kiln-dried red sand.
