First in the process is the installation of a gravel sub-layer. This provides the structural base for your new tar and chip surface. On top of this base, a thick layer of hot bitumen is poured and a subsequent layer of coloured aggregate is applied over the top. This aggregate is firmly pressed into the bitumen layer to ensure a high adhesion and maximum coverage.
