How is Surface Dressing Applicated?
For Norfolk installations our team first checks the quality of the existing surface. In order to prepare it properly for a long lasting finish, we will fill in any potholes or imperfections to create a level base.
We use mechanical sweepers to remove any loose debris such as leaves and dust. This ensures that when the emulsion is applied, it provides an adherent surface for the aggregate.
Bitumen emulsion is then applied using either a combination sprayer or hand lance. This is applied at a hot temperature of 80 degrees Celsius.
The aggregate that you had chosen at an earlier stage of the planning process is then dispersed onto the bitumen emulsion. This creates a bond, resulting in a hard surface.
Using a roller, we then press the aggregate firmly into the bitumen ensuring a strong bond is created. We recommend repeating this process on some surfaces, we will advise you whether this will lengthen the life of your surface while conducting our Free Site Surveys.
