In order to make sure our customers know exactly what to expect at every step of their installation, we follow a simple seven step process when installing block paving in Essex.

Free Site Survey – Our team will measure the area you would like surfaced and complete all necessary risk assessments. We mark out and evaluate drainage options and agree on the final look that you are after.

Excavation – Before any work commences, we scan the area for gas, water and utilities. At Driveline Surfacing, to ensure the area is prepared properly, we complete all necessary groundworks ourselves. Once the area is at sufficient depth, we lay a porous membrane to stop the sub-base mixing with the underlying ground, creating a perfect surface for brick laying.

Sub-base – We lay our sub-bases at a minimum of 4 inches deep to ensure your driveway meets all necessary legislation. We usually use either a Mot type 1 or a recycled crushed concrete, the one we use on your project will vary depending on the finish and drainage requirements.

Kerbs & Edging – All the edging we install is laid on a solid concrete base to ensure the future stability of your surface. Edging is not always essential, however it can act as a decorative finish to elevate the look of your block paving driveway.

Drainage & Manholes – We only install stainless steel metal linear drains which are both hard wearing and crack resistant. This ensures that there is adequate drainage and increases the longevity of your surface. If your driveway has any current manholes, we will replace these with recessed manholes which will maintain the look and provide you with vital access to your drainage system.

Block Laying – After your base has been screened, we will lay the blocks in your chosen pattern.

Final Finishing – To complete the look of your surface, all blocks are fully compacted down and jointed with kiln dried red sand, to prevent any movement, this makes sure that your surface is sturdy and fit for purpose.
