7 Steps In Our Block Paving Process
When installing a block paving driveway in Lincolnshire, we follow a simple seven stage process so you know exactly what to expect, every step of the way.
Free Site Survey – Throughout this initial stage, we take all of the measurements and complete all the necessary risk assessments in order to complete your works. We also mark out the area and evaluate drainage options.
Excavation – Before any groundworks are undertaken, we scan the area for gas, water, and utilities. We then complete the necessary works ourselves, ensuring all of the correct preparation is carried out. Once the correct depth has been dug, we apply a porous membrane which stops the sub-base mixing with the underlying ground resulting in a sturdier surface.
Sub-base – The sub-bases we use are either MOT type 1 hard core or a recycled 20 mm crush concrete, the type we use for your installation will vary on the finish and drainage required. To ensure compliance to all guidelines, our sub-bases are at a minimum 4 inches depth.
Kerbs & Edging – Edging is not always required, however sometimes we recommend them to act as a retainer, or as a way to finish the design. Any kerbs that are installed are always laid on a concrete base to ensure there is no movement. If you decide that you would like kerbs or edging, we have a wide variety of choices available.
Drainage & Manholes – To ensure that there is adequate drainage for the surface, we only use stainless steel metal linear drains which are anti rust and hard wearing. If your drive contains any existing manholes we will replace these with recess covers which are designed to compliment the look of your driveway and give you access to your drains when needed.
Block Laying – After your final base has been screened, we will lay the blocks in your chosen pattern and design.
Final Finishing – After installation we ensure that all the blocks are fully compacted down. We use red kiln dry sand for jointing to prevent any further block movement.
